ELSTER FARM GOLF CLUB

Elster Farm GC is a fictional golf course. The par 71 championship course features rolling fairways, deep bunkers, tough greens, and several water hazards, but remains a very playable and thoroughly enjoyable golfing experience. The rough has been cut fairly short to allow recovery from most errant shots. The water hazards have been placed to allow a safe bailout for the less adventurous player. The greens are steep in some places, but a well placed approach shot will always be rewarded with a makeable putt.

Notes about individual holes:

Hole 1: The opening hole is a relatively short downhill par 4. The water hazard, which also protects the 11th green, must be taken into account on both tee shot and approach. A well executed strategy will leave the player with a good birdie opportunity on an easy green.

Hole 8: This short par 4 has a very large fairway, which offers the players several landing areas for the tee shot. The green rolls away from the player and is protected by a large mound. A short approach shot may roll off the green, while a long approach may leave an easy uphill putt.

Hole 9: The most unique hole on the course has a split fairway and green. Use the Show Pin option to establish the best route for the pin in play.

Hole 11: This short par 4 is drivable, but a yard too far may be in the water hazard. The bunkers guarding the green make a short recovery shot a tricky proposition. Often laying up with an iron is the best way to play this hole.

Hole 13: A steeply uphill approach shot makes this par 4 a tough hole. Placing the tee shot in the fairway is key to a birdie chance here.

Hole 17: This monster par 5 has multiple personalities. On a windy day, this hole can be reachable in 2, or can require a 3-4W third shot depending on the direction of the wind. For your second shot, aim at the large tree right of the water hazard. This will leave you a short to medium third shot and a good chance at birdie on an easy green.

Hole 18: The pride and joy of the designer. This hole has no strategic value, but still remains the best hole of the course. The tee shot is dramatically downhill towards a very uneven fairway. Judging the slope of the fairway and the elevation change on the second shot is crucial for a chance at an easy par. This hole rarely gives up a birdie, and never a double bogey.

I hope you will get as much pleasure out of playing this course as I have had designing it, although this is highly unlikely. Enjoy!
